Just as Haydn sensibly never returned to the scene of his greatest triumph, nor did he ever write another symphony. Also for the event, he wrote a three-voice canon titled Thy Voice, O Harmony, is Divine. The musical language of this period is similar to what went before, but it is deployed in work that is more intensely expressive, especially in the works written in minor keys.

In 1760, with the security of a Kapellmeister position, Haydn married. Then began the period of the last quartets of Beethoven music, which are still difficult even for today’s audience, who knows how to interpret his other works. The pig-tail was clean removed, and the joker was condemned to be caned.

One of those people is Kenneth Woods, a conductor living in Wales who programs Haydn symphonies whenever he can. Although he contributed over twenty compositions to the operatic repertoire, not one of them or all of them together made the impression so widely felt at the hearing of his oratorios.

They came to hear the work of the great Austrian composer. Grove reports that during the second half of the 18th century, Paris had become the leading center in Europe of musical performance and of music publishing, but not that of symphonic composition and that the surprising number of over 1,000 works Brooks had collected also included works in the Symphonie Concertante form which was rather more of Concerto genre than a symphony in the modern meaning of the word.

Haydn spent a portion of his life working for professional musicians where he began to write his own symphonies and compositions. Veit Bach, the grandfather of John Sebastian, was born at Pressburg; so was Chopin's great hero, Johann Nepomuk Hummel. In 1906, he suffered a nervous breakdown and a probable heart attack, caused by his manically-paced lifestyle.

Michael Haydn (1737-1806) was an Austrian composer of the classical period. He is known for writing large chords of up to 5 notes per hand, which he could perform easily with his gigantic hands. In the Classical era, some composers continued to write only one bass part for their symphony, labeled "bassi"; this bass part was played by cellists and double bassists. Not hard to imagine Bach sitting in someone's Dresden study and mentally devouring those scores.
